How is Nutri prepared
One who has a love for Soya Nuggets will be going to relish this dish. The dish is one such vegetarian delight that your taste buds will always crave for after you will get to taste it once.
The ingredients used for the preparation of Nutri are not hard to find at all. Let us help you with the procedure that will assist you in cooking this healthy vegetarian delicacy.
- Pre heat some water in the pan and boil the soya chunks in it.
- After the chunks get soft and fluffy take them out of the water and drain the water in them by pressing them with a spoon.
- Now cut the chunks into small pieces or you can simply do that before serving the dish.
- So now is the time to add texture and flavors to your dish. Take a wok and add oil and butter together. Add cumin seeds to it and get them roasted without getting them burnt.
- Put the ground paste of tomatoes, green chilly, ginger & garlic into it. In Amritsar, some vendors even use a small quantity of finely chopped palak (spinach) which adds a smoky taste to it. Saute it for some time till the oil doesn’t get segregated.
- Add salt, mango powder, garam masala and soya sauce. Put the boiled chunks into the mix and blend it properly with the spatula.
- To make the gravy thick add a piece of butter into it and get it to melt by continuously moving the mix.
- Garnish the dish with finely gritted coriander and cheese. The dish is ready to be served.
The Nutri Kulcha shops or stalls in Amritsar use a turner to chop down the chunks into fine pieces before serving them. The bread kulchas are made to slide over the pan filled with gravy so that it too gets that spicy touch as that of Nutri. People in Punjab even consume Nutri with bread or as a lunch with chapatis which makes it a versatile item to eat.
